Welcome to the first issue of Asian Dispute Review in its 25th Anniversary year! This issue commences with an article by Shahla Ali, AKC Koo and Matt Kwok which considers key issues relating to the impartiality and independence of arbitrators and mediators in Hong Kong. Next, Chang Wen Yee discusses breach of contractual pre-conditions to arbitration from both admissibility and jurisdictional perspectives and important recent case law on the distinction.

Weixia Gu and Yi Tang then examine the impact an international commercial court in Hong Kong could have on the SAR’s further development as a regional and international legal and dispute resolution hub. Our In-House Counsel Focus article, by Payel Chatterjee, Aman Singhania and Yuvraj Singh Sharma, sheds light on the critically important issue of cybersecurity in international arbitration in the digital age. This is followed by an insightful book review by Daryl Chew and Shaun Pereira of Singapore Private International Law: Commercial Issues and Practice.

Finally, this issue concludes with the News section written by Robert Morgan.

In this our Silver Anniversary year, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our readers and contributors for all their continued support over the past 25 years. This has been key to the journal’s longevity and continued success.
